A Weekend Visit in Mexico City (CDMX)

A quick impromptu getaway from San Francisco!

Travel Date: January 26-29, 2024

Here are some of the things I did while I was there. I made sure I stayed somewhere that was centrally located for places I found interesting and favorable.

See below, I hope you enjoy some of the places that might interest you! It was for me!

I'm heading back soon for more exploring!

HOUSING

I ended up staying at an Airbnb vacation rental. Because I'm an Airbnb Superhost, Airbnb rewards hosts with a discount for staying at other Airbnb rentals. So, I took advantage and picked a place that was ideal and a really nice neighborhood. It's in the La Condesa area of Mexico City. Walkable to many of the sights that interested me. Below is the listing.

DISTRICT | NEIGHBORHOOD

The two good districts that I was told from other travelers were La Condesa and Roma Norte. I ended in La Condesa.

La Condesa and Roma Norte

SIGHTS

Mexico City has an amazing Chinatown to check out for dinner, in just a few blocks, it has a great vibe, quite safe and great to see shops and it's just around the corner from the heart of Mexico City square!

Hong King Restaurant

Excellent choices on the menu, service is super efficient. Go with the Combos, easy to enjoy local favorites.

One other stop I did go to was the view of the Museo Soumaya, the line was too long, so I ended up just checking out the architecture and also the surrounding area, there's a hug mall right besides the museum, it was a good walk through, very huge mall!

Palacio de Bellas Artes

Great evening walk after dinner, on a Sunday night, there was so many people still out, both young and old, so much to take it. Felt really relaxed here.

FOOD

The Green Corner Restaurant

Great for brunch, good menu, relaxed setting, indoor and outdoor seating. Loved the setting, and great for people watching. Located on the Avenida Mazatlan. It's connected with a little market, take a walk through, it's interesting products.

French Toast to Die For!

On one of my walking tours, I found this great corner cafe that showed alot of activity. It's a crossroad to the local park, Parque Mexico in La Condesa and to my condo.

Flora Lounge

El Moro

If you love Churros, or fried donuts, stop here, it's so tasty for a quick dessert break from all that walking.

ZONA ROSA DISTRICT (Their version of the "The Castro")

Tacotento

There are many throughout the City, but this one is in the heart of Zona Rosa. Tasty, filling, and fresh!  The prices are very reasonable, perfect before going out for a drink or two.

Al Pastor, Cervaza

On a side trip, I joined my friend who lives in the Coyoacan district where the Frida Kahlo Museum is located. We went to his favorite brunch place inside of a market, joining us along with his Mom. So nice to enjoy my first day in Mexico City. Restaurant called, The Three Coyotes
