Birthday. Reunion. Reconnect.

If there is one thing you can count on when you reunite with old classmates is that it's the outright joy in seeing everyone and finding out where they are today. Recently, I attended another class reunion in which many of us returned to celebrate our 50th birthday year in unison. It was a huge success and memorable at best to see a well-orchestrated celebration among classmates. This reunion was well planned with a start of an " ice-breaker " cocktail hour in reuniting and reconnecting with fellow classmates. It was at first overwhelming with the return of friends from a reunion a couple of years ago as well as seeing new faces coming into the mix. I found myself being unable to reconnect with some as time stole my chances to really sit down and chat. There was one classmate I missed connecting with. Both of us played on the same intramural basketball team. I wasn't any good in the sport but sure had fun trying! Or another classmate that was in the same grueli...

Another Year LIghts Up!

Photo Credit I can't believe how time flies! After two years of dealing with the pandemic, I took a moment to reflect my life as a now 57 year old. Wow! I took a great work / vacation trip to Acapulco, Mexico . It's a destination I've gone to in the last 5 years. My friend owns a condo blocks away from the beaches of Acapulco bay , to be more specific, Condesa Beach . It was nice to take time off and enjoy the celebration, very grateful to alive and well. Hope to see what other adventures takes me next.

Turning 50 without Michael and Whitney

As I continue to ponder about my impending realization that I will turn 50 years old in February, I began to think of the most basic thought in our life's paths; expecting familiarity as part of getting older. I grew up with the music from the 70s, 80s, and 90s which included all time favorites from the king of pop, Michael Jackson and amazing vocals from Whitney Houston . Sadly, they are no longer with us, as they left this world before they even turned 51. It struck a void for a moment as I obviously thought they'd be around for a while - creating songs for many more years, but no. Whitney Houston's song, " The Greatest Love of All " was our senior graduation class song. We spent our lunch hours learning and perfecting the lyrics not necessarily to her exact vocals, but to at least give homage to the lyrics and the hopes the words we sang on graduation day would resonate in our minds as we soon begin to head out to our new adventure out into the "...

It's amazing how this journey has made me think about my choices in transitioning from work to retirement. It's really a moment to celebrating more in life at this stage in my life.
